Are you a true Spartan? If you haven't done a Spartan Race Hurricane Heat yet, you might want to reevaluate your answer.
Back in August, the second day of racing in Boston was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. Die hard Spartans were furious at Mother Nature, and not particularly happy with Spartan Race either. So they protested by the boatload. Spartan owner and founder Joe Desena was so impressed by the never say die attitude that he offered a special race for the most dedicated racers so early that even the hurricane wasn't up yet.
Ever since, Spartan has been offering an extra Hurricane Heat with extra challenges for those who want to go above and beyond. Check out this video from the Midwest race to see if you're up to the challenge, and make sure to sign up for the Hurricane Heat the next time you go to a Spartan Race!

Last week, an epic Spartan Sprint took the Midwest by storm, and this week you can see all the crazy highlights on SpartanRace.tv.

So what motivated the Midwest Spartan competitors to forge on? Many of them had a greater calling, as the Susan G. Komen foundation made sure Spartans were reminded of the importance of breast cancer awareness. There was even a special heat at 11:30 where all of the proceeds were donated to the cause.
